Web Development

Web Development

In this project, I taught myself web development, focusing on building a fully functional personal website from the ground up.

During COVID on 2021, I got curious about the software side of things and decided to learn web development. I set myself a goal to create a personal website portfolio since I had just graduated.

The best way to learn, in my opinion, is to dive right in, especially if you’ve got some basic programming knowledge. I started by grabbing a free HTML template from HTML5UP, downloaded Visual Studio Code, and jumped straight into customizing it—like swapping out the entire page for my resume. Then, I experimented with bolding text, changing fonts, and adding a profile image. I even figured out how to embed a PDF reader. I took it step-by-step, starting with small tweaks and working up to more complex stuff. During my first website development, there was no ChatGPT, but with it now, building a website should be miles easier. I deployed my site through GitHub and still use it today. As of 2024, I’ve updated my theme to Hydejack.
