Shamim Sulaiman hails from Perak and holds an honors degree in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA. After graduating in 2021, he ran a food stall to sustain himself during the COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2022, Shamim began his career as a Process Engineer at Unisem Advanced Technologies (UAT), specializing in the photolithography process for 300mm wafers. During his two years at UAT, he led multiple projects, gaining expertise in wafer processes, defect management, and engineering documentation, while mastering manufacturing systems. His efforts earned him recognition as a Finalist in the Technical Excellence Competition in March 2024. In July 2024, Shamim resigned from UAT to pursue a 2-month Siemens PLC training program in Pahang, focusing on automation for manufacturing. Upon completing the course, he joined Fuji Global Chocolate (FGC) at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Johor, as a Maintenance Executive (Automation & Calibration). In this role, Shamim utilized Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi PLCs, along with SCADA Wonderware InTouch, to optimize automation processes and modify the instrumentation and control system to enhance safety and process performance.

Maintenance Executive (Automation & Calibration) at Fuji Global Chocolate

Calibrated and maintained critical instruments, including pressure and level transmitters (Endress+Hauser), load cells (Siemens, ADD, Mettler Toledo), temperature sensors and flow meters. Managed, troubleshot, and optimized PLC systems, including Siemens S7-300, S7-1200, Rockwell MicroLogix 1400, and Mitsubishi A1SJHCPU, as well as SCADA Wonderware InTouch and Variable Frequency Drives (Schneider, AB). Standardized instrument parameters and PLC/SCADA program management by maintaining backups and configurations in virtual machines, ensuring data integrity and rapid system recovery during breakdowns. Additionally, developed and maintained control system documentation, including an instrument master list and calibration protocols, to streamline troubleshooting processes and support audit readiness.

Led process control for 300mm wafer processes, focusing on defect management and disposition. Drove process optimization and reliability improvements in photolithography (coat, exposure, develop). Managed engineering evaluations and improvement projects for 300mm wafers.
